The design and installation of a production studio and seperate voice booth at Fresh Air Studios. As well as the audio installation, this contract included major electrical alterations in the building, a new computer network and telephone system, and the construction of the voice booth and custom studio furniture. We were also responsible for the decommissioning of the old studios.
The design and installation of the split region Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) feeds for Pirate FM. This work included major changes to the transmission chain including the installation of a new rack. All this work was undertaken and brought live without any interruption to existing analogue transmissions. Westbrook Communications are also responsible for all routine maintenance at the station. As part of ITV1 Westcountry's upgrade from tape based systems to a digital video
server system, Westbrook Communications was required to decommission the old analogue linear
edit suites. As much of the equipment and cabling was required to be saved, the old suites
had to be dismantled slowly and carefully. It was also required that the work did not disrupt
the other suites situated in the same part of the building. This work was undertaken out of
hours, to minimise disruption to the busy newsroom.
The studios at 97FM Plymouth Sound and Classic Gold Plymouth have recently been completely
refurbished. Westbrook Communications was responsible for decommissioning the old Central
Apparatus Room. This work was undertaken in parallel with the construction of a new racks room,
and much of the work was undertaken whilst the old racks room was still "on air". The work was
completed with no disruption to either radio service. Westbrook Communications also arranged the
removal of all studio equipment from the site.
