Fibre optic technology is commonly used for the backbone of a data network, connecting different floors
of a building, or different buildings, where Cat5e would not be suitable.
Termination
Our highly experienced engineers offer a complete on-site termination service for both loose tube and tight buffer fibre cables, using cold cure epoxy resin connectors. We usually recommend ST type connectors for IT network infrastructure, but can terminate to SC type connectors on request. We also offer a termination service for non terminated cores of installed cables.
Testing
All our fibre optic installations are fully tested using a
Fluke Networks DSP4300
network tester. The test results are presented to the client in electronic form, with a printed summary sheet. For more information on our cable testing services, please click
here.
Parts Supply
Please contact us for a competitive price on all fibre optic cable, patch panels and patch leads. We can also advise on installation techniques for fibre optic cable should you wish to install the cable yourself. To register with us and receive your free catalogue, please click

Ethernet Fibre Standards
There are various ethernet fibre standards all of which use two strands of fiber-optic cable per link. The table below outlines the differences between the various standards.
